Expectant Mothers and Those Traveling with Children

We offer assistance so that expectant mothers and those traveling with infants can fly with piece of mind.

Passengers Traveling with Children Under 3 Years Old

  • One adult passenger can travel with up to 2 accompanying children under 3 years old.
However, upon purchase of a child ticket, 1 of these children must sit on their own using a child seat. (Children aged 2 may sit on their own without the use of a child seat.)
  • Expectant mothers whose due date is within 28 days may be accompanied by up to 1 infant.
In this instance, a child ticket must be purchased and said infant must sit on their own using a child seat. (Children aged 2 may sit on their own without the use of a child seat.)
  • Children under 3 not using their own seat will require an infant boarding pass. Please inform us if this is the case.
  • As restrictions on the number of infants on board apply, please inform us upon reservation and ticket purchase if you are going to travel with any infants.

Child Seats

IBEX Airlines does not lend child seats to passengers. Please bring either a child seat on board with you that conforms to Japanese (MLIT), American (FMVSS), or European (UN/ECE) standards, or a CARES airplane safety harness.
In this instance, a seat reservation is required with the Child Fare.

  • The child seat user must be accompanied by a passenger aged 12 or over sat in an adjacent seat.
  • If you intend to use a child seat, please reserve a window seat for this passenger if at all possible.
You may be asked to move seats if you reserve a seat other than the above.

The following child seats may be brought on board:

  • (1)Those approved by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), Japan
  • (2)Those conforming to American Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS)
  • (3)Those granted UN/ECE approval by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe
  • (4)CARES airplane safety harnesses
  • Seats aside from the above will be checked in as checked baggage.
  • Even if meeting the above standards, seats which cannot be held in place by the 2-point seat belt on board cannot be used.
  • Booster seats (including those with a back rest) and vest/harness-type seats (excluding CARES airplane safety harnesses*) cannot be used. We will provide notification as necessary if any additional products become permitted for use.

Child seats meeting the above standards are affixed with the following labels.
